FORMERLY MCKINNEY DOOR SOLUTIONS & AMERICAN DOOR PRODUCTS - NOW UNITED AS AMERICAN DOORS.
Flexible sealing materials applied around doors to block air infiltration, water penetration, dust, light, and sound transmission. Proper weatherstripping improves energy efficiency and occupant comfort while protecting interior spaces from the elements.
Common weatherstripping types include compression seals (bulb, tubular, or foam that compress when door closes), wiper seals (flexible fins that brush against door surfaces), magnetic seals (for refrigerator-style closure), and interlocking seals (metal strips that mesh together). Materials range from EPDM rubber and silicone to neoprene, vinyl, and brush pile.
For exterior doors, a complete weatherstripping system includes seals on both jambs, the head, and a door sweep or threshold seal at the bottom. Acoustic doors require specialized compression seals with high STC ratings. Fire-rated assemblies use intumescent weatherstripping that expands during fire. Related terms: gasket, threshold seal.
