FORMERLY MCKINNEY DOOR SOLUTIONS & AMERICAN DOOR PRODUCTS - NOW UNITED AS AMERICAN DOORS.
Glazing materials tested and labeled to maintain fire resistance for specified durations (20, 45, 60, 90, or 180 minutes). Fire-rated glass is essential for vision lites in fire doors and fire-rated sidelights and transoms.
Glass types include wired glass (traditional, limited to 45 minutes, breakage concerns), ceramics (clear, high-temperature resistance, up to 180 minutes), and fire-resistive glass (multi-layer with intumescent gel, blocks heat transfer). Fire-protective glass blocks flames; fire-resistive glass also blocks radiant heat.
Maximum glazing sizes vary by glass type and rating: wired glass is limited to 100 sq. in. per lite in 45/60/90-minute doors; ceramics and fire-resistive products allow larger lites per test documentation. All glazing must be installed per manufacturer specifications with labeled frames and beads. Related: fire door, glazing, intumescent strip. Shop fire-rated glazing.
