FORMERLY MCKINNEY DOOR SOLUTIONS & AMERICAN DOOR PRODUCTS - NOW UNITED AS AMERICAN DOORS.
A fixed or operable glazed panel adjacent to a door, typically mounted in the same frame assembly. Sidelights allow natural light into entries and provide visual connection while maintaining security at the door itself.
Standard sidelights range from 6″ to 18″ wide and match the door height. Single sidelights are installed on one side of the door; double sidelights flank both sides. Glass options include clear, obscure, decorative, tempered, laminated, and fire-rated varieties depending on application.
Security considerations for sidelights include laminated glass (prevents reach-through even if broken), security film, and locksets positioned beyond arm’s reach from the glass. Fire-rated sidelights must use rated glazing in rated frames tested as a complete assembly. Mullions separate multiple sidelight panels or join sidelights to door frames.
