FORMERLY MCKINNEY DOOR SOLUTIONS & AMERICAN DOOR PRODUCTS - NOW UNITED AS AMERICAN DOORS.
A door constructed with thermal insulation materials to minimize heat transfer between interior and exterior environments. Insulated doors improve energy efficiency and reduce heating/cooling costs in climate-controlled buildings.
Core insulation types include polyurethane foam (R-15 to R-17 per inch), polystyrene (R-4 per inch), and mineral wool (also provides fire resistance). Total door R-values range from R-5 for basic insulation to R-15+ for high-performance doors. Thermal-break designs prevent conduction through metal frames.
Applications include exterior entries, loading docks, cold storage facilities, and mechanical rooms housing temperature-sensitive equipment. Insulated hollow metal doors feature foam-injected cores between 20 or 18 gauge steel faces. Insulated fire doors use mineral core materials that provide both thermal resistance and fire protection.
