Door Ajar Alarm

An electronic alert system that signals when a door remains open beyond a preset time, indicating security breach, energy loss, or improper closure. Door ajar alarms are common in security, cold storage, and controlled environments.

Components include a door position switch (magnetic contact or monitoring switch), timer circuit, and audible/visual alarm. Time delays range from instant to several minutes depending on application. Integration with building management or security systems enables remote monitoring.

Applications include fire door monitoring (ensuring doors don’t remain propped), refrigeration (energy savings), and security (detecting unauthorized access). Related: door prop alarm, electronic lock. Shop door monitoring.
