Electronic Lock

A lock that uses electronic control for operation rather than purely mechanical means. Electronic locks enable remote operation, access scheduling, audit trails, and integration with building management systems.

Types include electromagnetic locks (magnetic force), electric strikes (electrified strike plate), electrified locksets (motor-driven bolt), and wireless locks (battery-powered, standalone or networked). Fail-safe locks unlock when power fails; fail-secure locks remain locked.

Power options include low-voltage DC (12V, 24V), Power over Ethernet (PoE), and battery. Credential types include keypad codes, card readers, biometrics, and smartphone apps. Network connectivity enables remote management and real-time monitoring. Related: access control, high-security cylinder. Shop electronic locks.
