FORMERLY MCKINNEY DOOR SOLUTIONS & AMERICAN DOOR PRODUCTS - NOW UNITED AS AMERICAN DOORS.
A protective plate installed on doors where users push to open, preventing damage and soiling from repeated hand contact. Push plates are larger than finger plates and often include signage (“PUSH”).
Standard dimensions range from 4″ x 16″ to 8″ x 16″, installed at 38″ to 48″ AFF (above finished floor) centered at hand height. Materials include stainless steel, brass, bronze, aluminum, and plastic. Surface finishes match other door hardware or feature contrast for visibility.
Commercial push plates often incorporate braille and tactile text for ADA compliance. Antimicrobial finishes reduce pathogen transfer in healthcare and food service settings. For doors with closers, push plates complement pull handles on the opposite face. Mounting options include adhesive and screw-through installation. Related: pull handle, kick plate. Shop push plates.
