FORMERLY MCKINNEY DOOR SOLUTIONS & AMERICAN DOOR PRODUCTS - NOW UNITED AS AMERICAN DOORS.
A flush door constructed with a dense interior core, providing superior strength, sound attenuation, and fire resistance compared to hollow-core doors. Solid-core doors are the standard for commercial applications.
Core materials include particleboard (economical), stave lumber (vertical wood blocks), structural composite lumber (SCL/LVL), and mineral core (for fire ratings). Core densities range from 2.5 to 4.5 lb/ft3. Standard commercial thickness is 1-3/4″ with 5-ply minimum construction. Fire ratings of 20, 45, 60, and 90 minutes require specific core types.
Performance benefits include STC ratings of 30-35 (compared to 20-25 for hollow-core), improved dimensional stability, and better hardware holding strength. Edge banding options include hardwood, softwood, and composite materials. AWI Premium, Custom, and Economy grades specify construction standards. Related: flush door, fire door, acoustic door.
