Laminated Glass

Safety glass consisting of two or more glass layers bonded with plastic interlayer (typically PVB or SGP), which holds fragments together when broken. Laminated glass provides security, sound attenuation, and UV protection.

When broken, the interlayer prevents the glass from falling out of the frame, maintaining barrier integrity against intrusion, wind, and weather. Interlayer thickness (0.030″ to 0.090″) determines security level and acoustic performance. Multiple interlayers increase protection.

Security laminated glass resists forced entry; ballistic laminated glass stops bullets at specified threat levels (UL 752). Acoustic laminated glass achieves STC ratings 3-5 points higher than monolithic glass of equal thickness. Fire-rated laminated glass uses intumescent interlayers that foam during fire.
