Door Operator

Powered equipment that opens and closes doors automatically or with reduced effort, essential for accessibility and high-traffic applications. Door operators enable automatic door function and assist manual operation.

Types include low-energy operators (reduced speed/force for accessible manual doors), full-energy operators (automatic operation at normal speed), and electro-hydraulic operators (heavy-duty applications). Activation methods include push buttons, presence sensors, card readers, and motion detectors.

Installation requires coordination with closer removal (or bypass) and frame reinforcement for operator mounting. Power requirements vary from 120VAC to low-voltage DC with battery backup. AAADM certification is required for installers. Related: automatic door, touchless door opener. Shop door operators.
