FORMERLY MCKINNEY DOOR SOLUTIONS & AMERICAN DOOR PRODUCTS - NOW UNITED AS AMERICAN DOORS.
A device that ensures the inactive leaf of a pair of doors closes before the active leaf, enabling proper latching and astragal engagement. Door coordinators are essential for fire-rated door pairs.
Mounting is typically at the frame head with arms extending to each door. When both doors open, the coordinator’s arms interact so the active leaf (with astragal or overlapping edge) waits until the inactive leaf closes past it. Standard coordinators accommodate doors up to 180 degrees swing.
Fire-rated pairs require coordinators to ensure proper sequential closing and positive latching. Coordinators work with door closers, not in place of them. Concealed coordinators mount within the frame head. Related terms: astragal, flush bolt, door selector. Shop door coordinators.
