FORMERLY MCKINNEY DOOR SOLUTIONS & AMERICAN DOOR PRODUCTS - NOW UNITED AS AMERICAN DOORS.
A lock type where the key-operated cylinder is a separate component from the lock body, allowing cylinders to be easily rekeyed or replaced without removing the entire lock. Also called cylindrical locks when referring to bored locksets.
Cylindrical (bored) locksets mount through two holes in the door-a 2-1/8″ face bore and a 1″ edge bore-making installation simpler than mortise locks. The chassis spans between both door faces with handles or levers on each side. Grade 1 cylindrical locks are rated for 400,000 cycles minimum.
Cylinder types include standard pin-tumbler, interchangeable core (IC) for instant rekeying, high-security with patented keyways, and electronic cylinders with audit trails. Key-in-knob (KIK) and key-in-lever (KIL) configurations place the cylinder directly in the operating hardware. Cylinders are available in multiple lengths (1″, 1-1/8″, 1-1/4″) to match door thicknesses. Related: high-security cylinder, master key system. Brands include BEST and Medeco. Browse cylinder locks.
