FORMERLY MCKINNEY DOOR SOLUTIONS & AMERICAN DOOR PRODUCTS - NOW UNITED AS AMERICAN DOORS.
A structural steel shape with a C-shaped cross-section used for reinforcing door frames, supporting lintels, and creating heavy-duty frame assemblies. Channel iron provides structural capacity beyond standard hollow metal profiles.
Standard designations (C3x4.1, C4x5.4, etc.) indicate depth and weight per foot. Channels are welded to frames or anchored to walls to provide additional support for heavy doors, closers, and high-traffic abuse.
Applications include oversized openings, industrial environments, security doors, and blast-resistant assemblies. Channel iron reinforces jambs, heads, and sills where standard gauges are insufficient. Related: door frame, reinforced door frame. Shop heavy-duty frames.
