FORMERLY MCKINNEY DOOR SOLUTIONS & AMERICAN DOOR PRODUCTS - NOW UNITED AS AMERICAN DOORS.
A door constructed with a frame of vertical stiles and horizontal rails that surround one or more recessed or raised panels. This traditional construction method allows for decorative designs while managing wood movement across seasons.
Commercial panel doors typically feature solid wood or MDF panels in configurations from single-panel to six-panel designs. Panel thickness ranges from 3/8″ to 3/4″, while overall door thickness is standard 1-3/4″ for commercial applications. Stile-and-rail joints use mortise-and-tenon or dowel construction for structural integrity.
Panel profiles include flat, raised (fielded), and recessed (Shaker style). Fire-rated panel doors require specific core materials and edge construction to achieve 20, 45, 60, or 90-minute ratings. Wood species commonly used include oak, maple, mahogany, and paint-grade poplar. Related terms: flush door, stile, rail. Custom sizes available from Oshkosh Door and VT Industries.
