FORMERLY MCKINNEY DOOR SOLUTIONS & AMERICAN DOOR PRODUCTS - NOW UNITED AS AMERICAN DOORS.
A door incorporating lead shielding to protect against X-ray and gamma radiation, used in medical imaging rooms, laboratories, and nuclear facilities. Lead-lined doors maintain radiation containment while allowing normal passage.
Lead thickness is specified by pound-per-square-foot (PSF) based on radiation protection requirements-typically 1/32″ to 1/4″ lead sheet. The lead is sandwiched within the door core between face materials. Frames must also incorporate lead lining with proper overlap at the door edge.
Lead-lined hollow metal and wood doors are available in standard sizes. Hardware prep locations require lead plugs or lead-lined blocking. Vision lites use lead glass or lead-acrylic with matching protection levels. Fire-rated lead-lined doors are available for rated openings in radiation areas. Contact us for specialty doors.
