Night Latch

A spring-loaded latch lock mounted on the interior door surface, providing supplemental security with convenient interior egress. Night latches add security without replacing the primary lock.

Operation is by key from outside; a knob or lever releases from inside. The latch automatically engages when the door closes. Hold-back feature allows disabling the auto-lock function. Deadlocking plungers prevent shimming attacks.

Common in residential and light commercial applications for added security beyond the primary deadbolt. Surface mounting allows installation without door modification. Not suitable for primary security on commercial doors. Related: deadbolt, latch. Browse door locks.
