The Sargent family entered the hardware business in 1810, eventually establishing SARGENT Manufacturing Company in New Haven, Connecticut, where locks have been manufactured since 1884. By 1914, the SARGENT product catalog listed some 60,000 different items, making it one of the largest hardware plants in the United States. Purchased by ASSA ABLOY in 1996, SARGENT now operates from a modern 358,000-square-foot production facility producing a full line of door hardware including the Keso Security System developed in 1965. Their products provide security solutions for commercial construction, institutional, and industrial markets.
